WHAT IS NAMIC?
NAMIC stands for National Association of Multi-Ethnicity in Communication
Founded in 1980, the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC), is a national organization with a recently established student chapter at Penn State. NAMIC focuses its attention on the mutual interests of multi-ethnic cable professionals and the industry at large. Membership is open to individuals from all races and cultures. The Penn State chapter provides students the opportunity to participate in a national network of multi-ethnic business and cable professionals.
NAMIC at Penn State gives students the opportunity to learn about the world of communications by sponsoring guest speakers from prestigious television networks and news stations. We also provide trips to tour different television companies who are a part of NAMIC’s corporate media sponsors. Some of our sponsors range from Time Warner, CBS, ESPN, NBC Universal, Comcast, Viacom, Discovery Channel, and MANY MORE! NAMIC gives you the opportunity to network and build the necessary skills needed to have a prosperous future in the world of communications.
